The progress of the project in 2003

The start of the season was described here.

03(97), the male who had occupied a nest in 2001 and 2002, returned again but was not joined by his previous mate. Fortunately her place was quickly taken by a 3-year old translocated female, 05(00), and they bred successfully, producing 3 healthy chicks. Full details are here.

A second nest was also occupied, late in the season, by a pair of translocated Ospreys, the male 03(98) and a very young female, 06(01). They also were succesful, raising two chicks. It was the first time that a 2-year old female had been known to bred in the UK. Full details are here.

In addition, several other non-breeding Ospreys that had previously been translocated were seen in Rutland. You will find details on the Translocation Results page.
