Summary of the 2007 season

 Chicks in Manton Bay

2007 was a very significant year for the Rutland Osprey Project being the first year when a pair of Ospreys bred in a position where it was possible for the public to view the nest. Thousands of people came to the birdwatching hides alongside Manton Bay and watched as the middle-aged male 08(97) and his young mate 5N( ) raised two healthy chicks.

Meanwhile the established breeding pair returned to their nest at Site B and once again raised three young. The pair have now produced 14 offspring over five years. Of these eight are now old enough to have returned and four of these have already been recorded in Rutland - a remarkable return rate.
