Your chance to be an osprey for the day!
Tuesday 1st August 2017
10am – 3pm
Lyndon Visitor Centre, LE15 8RN
Bring the whole family to our Osprey Family Fun Day at the Lyndon Nature Reserve, and learn all about the life of an osprey at Rutland Water!
Children will get their very own numbered osprey ring, just like 33 (above), and can then spend the day undertaking several osprey-related activities on their journey through the reserve, as they migrate from Rutland Water to West Africa! (The centre to the hide!)
Activities include osprey arts and crafts, catching fish, feeding chicks and migrating to Africa!
As a special treat, Carole Brookes of Nature Knits will be attending the day selling her amazing array of knitted animals, hats, scarves, mittens and more! You can’t buy these anywhere else! Proceeds to the Osprey Project.
There will also be another added extra – a bird ringing display! The chance to see small birds close up and learn about ringing and what we can discover from it.
In addition to all of the above, you can become the proud owner of our superb osprey books – “The Rutland Water Ospreys” by Tim Mackrill, and “Ozzie’s Migration”, “Ozzie’s Return” and “Ozzie Leads the Way” by Ken Davies.
Entry to the Family Fun Day costs just £10 per family. For an extra £2 you can have a copy of “Be an Osprey Expert” by Jackie and Pete Murray, with questions, quizzes and more for you to complete! At the end of the book there is a certificate if you complete all the tasks!
There is no need to book; just turn up on the day any time between 10am and 3pm. Click here for the location of the reserve.
