Signs of Spring (2 hours)
By April, spring is in the air at Rutland Water. On this two-hour guided walk we’ll be on the look out for newly-arrived summer migrants, and the first butterflies of the year. We’ll then head to Manton Bay where we should be able to enjoy fantastic views of the Ospreys at the nest.

Dawn Chorus (2.5 hours with breakfast)
An early start will be rewarded by the sound of a memorable dawn chorus. We’ll also have time to visit the Osprey nest before returning to the visitor centre for a well-earned breakfast.

Nightingale Walks (2 hours)
Nightingales are without doubt Britain’s most remarkable songster. As their name suggests, they sing throughout the night. At this time, when there are few other competing sounds, their melodic song can be heard at its very best.
Each year several pairs of Nightingales breed on the Lyndon reserve. We’ll meet at the Lyndon centre at 11pm (where we’ll provide you with a welcome hot drink) and then walk by a combination of torch and moonlight to an area where we should hear these magical birds in full voice. There should be a range of other nocturnal wildlife to enjoy, including bats and owls. The evening will finish around 1am. Please note that this event is weather dependent.
- MAY 2012 DATES WILL BE CONFIRMED SOON!
For those who don’t want to venture out in the dead of night, we’ll also be running an evening walk on the Lyndon reserve in search of Nightingales.

An afternoon walk on the Lyndon reserve. We’ll point out a whole host of wildlife that can be found on the reserve; from wildflowers to butterflies and dragonflies to birds. We’ll finish by visiting Shallow Water hide where we’ll be able to enjoy great views of the Ospreys at their nest.
