33 has done quite well with the fish again today, bringing in a total of four! First thing this morning, the chicks were being fed from a fish that was already in the nest. It’s not surprising there was some left over, the amount he caught yesterday!
33 came to the nest to take this piece of fish away, but didn’t manage it, as Maya walked all the way around the nest and took it back off him!
The chicks are getting much more adventurous now, and are moving around the nest a lot. They have spent a lot of time today over on the left hand side of the nest. Earlier in the day, the two older chicks were at the side of the nest, busying themselves biting the sticks! Whilst they were preoccupied with their adventure, the third chick sat in the middle of the nest and got fed a lot of fish!
The youngest chick is getting bolder, and though it may not have caught up in size with its siblings just yet, it is getting bigger very quickly, and it won’t stand being bullied any more! After getting a large share of fish this morning, the youngest chick was quite full of itself, and has showed some aggression towards its siblings today! There’s no need to worry about the survival of this tough wee thing!
At about 1 o’clock, 33 delivered a small fish to the nest, not a tench this time! I think his supply of tench may have been exhausted yesterday! Here’s a video of him bringing in his catch.
33 brought in a pike at about 14:20. I realised the chicks were sitting right in the middle of the nest being fed, so I zoomed the camera in to take this video! I love this camera!
The third fish arrived at 15:30, and 33 stood sentry as Maya fed it to the chicks.
And then came the fourth, at 17:00 – another lovely pike!
We have had a slight issue with the cameras this evening, so I apologise that the webcam may not be working this evening or tonight. Rest assured we will rectify this issue as soon as possible.
