About Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre
Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre is an oversubscribed progressive and innovative school set in a 55 acre site midway between London and the Channel Ports in the south of England. It has over 2000 students aged between 11 and 19. The school offers a varied curriculum and challenges and supports students in their studies so that they can achieve their very best in everything they do.
What we would like to achieve
Homewood School is part of the Tenterden Rural Alliance group of primary schools which has recently implemented a Regional Book Award reading group. One of its main aims is to read selected books that cross the divide from primary to secondary school level. One of the books chosen was Sky Hawk by Gill Lewis. It tells the tale of an Osprey and its migration from England to Africa. The story has generated a great deal of interest in Ospreys so with everyone's help we hope to learn a lot more about this particular bird.
About our local Ospreys
We do not have nesting Ospreys locally but they pass through on migration in the spring and autumn.
