We had a great day at Lyndon yesterday – it was the day of our annual Family Fun Day, and what fun it was! The weather was sunny and pleasantly warm, perfect for spending the day outdoors, and over 30 families came along to enjoy the activities we had on offer throughout the day. Children were issued with their very own Osprey ring, and then had to migrate through the reserve to West Africa (Waderscrape hide) by undertaking several Osprey-related activities on the way. These activities included playing a migration game, a fishing game, feeding Osprey chicks and making badges!
On arrival at Waderscrape hide, the final task was to make an Osprey mask, and have a look at the Ospreys in Manton Bay! Children then became successfully migrated Ospreys, with their rings, masks and badges to take home as mementos.
There was also an on-going bird ringing demonstration throughout the day, which was very well attended and much enjoyed! Many thanks to Lloyd and Amelia for running this.
It wasn’t just visitors who had a good time at the Fun Day… staff members also enjoyed playing some of the games ourselves, and got quite competitive!
The Osprey team are thrilled with how well the day went, and how much everyone enjoyed it. We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who came along to help us on the day, whether it be setting-up and tidying away, welcoming families, chatting to visitors or manning the stands (or all of the above!) we would like to say a massive THANK YOU to you all, you helped to make it a fantastic day!
