After a day of very wet and windy weather yesterday, it has been a real relief to be treated to some sun and blue sky today.
We hardly saw the chicks yesterday as they were kept dry by Mum. As this video shows she was drenched by the end of the day.
Thankfully, today has been the complete opposite with the nest bathed in warm sunshine for long periods. Earlier on visitors to Waderscrape hide were treated to great views of 5R catching a Pike close to the hide; and here’s a video of the chicks enjoying the catch. Notice how different the elder of the two yougsters is now looking. It’s downy head is now beginning to feather over – giving it a much darker, more reptilian and, dare I say it, more ugly appearance!
