There has been a lot of Osprey action in Manton Bay today, as usual! The views people have been getting from the hides on the Lyndon Reserve are wonderful. Unfortunately for those watching the live screen, there has not been much action on the nest itself. We did manage to get a recording this morning, though, of Maya bringing a half-eaten trout to the nest. We believe it was 33 who originally brought in this fish, as, when we first turned on the screen, he was on the nest wiping his beak on the sticks, and Maya was sitting with the fish on the T-perch.
She sat there eating it for quite a while, then, when she’d had enough, she flew to the nest with it, where S1 was waiting impatiently! As soon as Maya landed on the nest, S1 promptly took the fish from her and mantled over it. Maya took off and went back to the T-perch.
We’re very excited about our next Osprey Cruise tomorrow evening on the Rutland Belle! This cruise is now sold out, but there is one more chance to join us on an Osprey Cruise in 2015! The last cruise we are running is on Saturday 29th August, and at the moment there are still some spaces left. Click here to see more details and to book. Alternatively, call 01572 737378 and speak to a member of the Osprey Team.
All of our cruises this season have been amazingly well-attended, and several have been sold out weeks in advance. They have all been incredibly successful too – at least one Osprey has been sighted on every cruise, usually more, and we have witnessed numerous fishing attempts, including a few actually catching fish!
There will be the chance to purchase Osprey Cruise vouchers for 2016 throughout the winter, and these vouchers will be on sale at the Osprey Project Stand at the Birdfair next weekend!
