At the end of every season, the Rutland Osprey Project host a celebration event to mark the occasion. We do this for several reasons, to celebrate the successes of the year, bid farewell to our wonderful ospreys, raise vital funds to continue the work the project does year-round, both in England and Africa, and have a good time amongst friends! In the past we have hosted fancy dances and dinners, and last season we celebrated with a cruise on the Rutland Belle, as it was the project’s 20th anniversary. This year, we are going for something a little bit different. We’re taking a step away from the ballgowns and bow-ties of more formal dances, and donning our jeans and cowboy boots for a rootin’ tootin’ fun-filled barn dance!
This event promises to be a brilliant way to have a good time and raise a glass to the successes of 2017. We certainly have reasons to celebrate, as 2017 has been another amazing season. We had eight pairs of ospreys this year, raising 16 chicks in total. Sadly one chick was lost shortly before fledging time, we believe due to high winds. However, having 15 chicks make it to fledging is still fantastic, and some birds have already begun to leave on their migrations. This is the best year yet in the history of the project!
So come and join us for an informal evening of laughter and dancing, with music from the excellent Navigation Band, a delicious hog roast included and a bar on site. Don’t worry if you can’t dance, there is no requirement to do it properly, it’s all about having fun! All for just £20.
Booking can be done online by clicking here, or by calling 01572 737378.
We really hope that you will be there to celebrate 2017 with us!
