Following the exciting arrival of the first egg yesterday evening, it’s been a quiet day in the bay today. 5R and his mate have been incubating the single egg for most of the day. The one exception came this evening when the two birds left the egg uncovered.
This is not unusal at this stage of the incubation period; they will often not incubate fully until the female has laid all three eggs – and that may not be until Sunday.
Eggs are usually laid two days apart, so keep a close eye on the webcam tomorrow and see if you can be the first person to spot egg number two!
