I know that many of you have been glued to the webcam today and if you have then you’ll know that the Manton Bay chick has been getting stronger by the hour. At 6:30am this morning it barely had the strength to lift its head off the nest but by mid-afternoon it was visbly stronger. Not that that’s saying very much. As this video – recorded at 4:30pm – shows, it still resembled a puppet on a string; its head wobbling around all over the place! The chick has had several feeds but on this occasion it was facing the wrong direction and, as you can see, unable to turn round.
The countdown is now on to the second egg hatching. This could be as early as tomorrow morning so keep watching the webcam!
