Due to the hot weather, there hasn’t been much activity on the nest over the past few days, as you’d expect! When they weren’t being fed, the chicks have spent most of their time snoozing on the nest in the cool shade of Maya’s motherly shadow.
Lots of sleep and plenty of fish helps the chicks to grow strong, and growing they are! The larger of the two, who is two weeks old today, looks enormous already, and the smaller one is catching up!
The lack of activity doesn’t include 33’s provision of fish. As usual he has supplied his family with more than is required, generally three or four a day and quite big ones too! He clearly still knows of a place nearby that’s good for roach, as those are the fish we see brought in most frequently.
Here is a selection of John Wright’s wonderful photographs, and a couple of sketches, taken over the past few days in Manton Bay.
